Comments as long-time observer of civic matters in Canning:

I’m not sure if I can describe Steve Klomp (Klompie) as a seasoned campaigner, as such, but he has certainly run for Canning Council, as both ward rep and Mayor,  several times and intends to do so again in 2019 when the Mayor’s position comes up for re-election.  He has also run for state and federal Parliament and is a member of two minor political parties (Australian.Christians, Australian Conservatives).

Klomp feels street parking, traffic, crime, safety, environmental protection, undergrounding of power and aged care are all areas in Canning that require improvement.

Mr Klomp’s business, civic and community interests are broad – I have wondered in the past how much additional time he would be able to commit as a City councillor.  Klomp is also Chair of the Jandakot Airport Community Aviation Consulting Group (a group the Council has just appointed a new representative too, also).
